What exactly is Paperfoam?
Compostable & recyclable
Starch from industrial potatoes, water, cellulose fibers and a premix are used to create a special mixture that can be processed using the injection molding process. Interestingly, the starch used is not taken from the food supply, as industrial potatoes are grown exclusively for their high starch content. During injection molding, heated, high-precision aluminum tools form the mixture into solid shells. These shells are characterized by a closed, smooth skin and a foamy structure on the inside.
